Overview
In this module, we expand our understanding of rhythm by exploring compound meter. Unlike simple meter, where each beat divides into two, compound meter divides each beat into three equal parts. You will learn how to recognize, count, and feel compound meters such as 6/8, and understand how notes are grouped to reflect this subdivision.
Objectives
By the end of this module you should be able to:
- Identify compound meter by recognizing beat groupings and subdivisions
- Count and perform rhythms in compound meter
Key Terms
